    Throughput Maximization for Mobile Relaying Systems

    This paper studies a novel mobile relaying technique, where relays of high mobility are employed to assist the communications from source to destination. By exploiting the predictable channel variations introduced by relay mobility, we study the throughput maximization problem in a mobile relaying system via dynamic rate and power allocations at the source and relay. An optimization problem is formulated for a finite time horizon, subject to an information-causality constraint, which results from the data buffering employed at the relay. It is found that the optimal power allocations across the different time slots follow a "stair-case" water filling (WF) structure, with non-increasing and non-decreasing water levels at the source and relay, respectively. For the special case where the relay moves unidirectionally from source to destination, the optimal power allocations reduce to the conventional WF with constant water levels. Numerical results show that with appropriate trajectory design, mobile relaying is able to achieve tremendous throughput gain over the conventional static relaying.Comment: submitted for possible conference publicatio

    What is the future role for Hong Kong as an international financial centre in China? A few pointers can be found by analysing the role of New York as a national and global financial hub. The financial sector in New York currently employs twice as many people and generates four times as much output as in Hong Kong. The contrast between the two cities is greatest in the securities industry. New York employs double the number of workers and produces 10 times more output than Hong Kong. With New York as the reference point, Hong Kong has significant growth potential if it can be positioned successfully as an international financial centre intermediating fund flows both within China and between the Mainland and the rest of the world. And the securities industry provides the biggest catch-up and the greatest potential, by serving the needs of fund raisers and investors from the Mainland, because capital market services do not need to be provided on location – an observation demonstrated by the role of New York’s securities industry in the US economy.Hong Kong; financial services industry

    Radio propagation prediction for selected locations in Sun-U campus: a ray tracing approach using image method

    Radio propagation prediction is a crucial step to determine the propagation characteristics of any arbitrary installation for the implementation of a mobile radio system. This is especially true for telecommunication systems that use electromagnetic waves for information transfer instead of relying on the conventional way that use electrical currents. In this paper, a ray tracing approach using image method is adopted to perform radio propagation predictions in two selected areas of Sun-U Campus, namely an empty hallway located on the second floor in the School of Computer Technology (SCT), and its adjacent academic staff rooms. The values of electrical parameter such as dielectric constant (relative permittivity) of different materials are altered assuming the walls that separate each academic staff room are made of rubber, glass, and plasterboard. How this variation affects radio wave propagation prediction is discussed while the main propagation mechanisms traveling along the empty hallway are reported

However, the utility of ergonomics is not just only limited to solve the injuries problem. Good ergonomics investment also can be applied to improve productivity. This project are carried out at Sidmann Composite Sdn Bhd. The Objective of this project are propose a new workplace with ergonomics features for Sidmann Composite Sdn. Bhd. to reduce the level of musculoskeletal risks of the workplace and improve the production process’s cycle time. In order to ensure the objectives are met. A comprehensive data collection was divided into three phase, such as phase one is to perform up-front analysis, phase two is to determine the existing working process risk and operational impact, phase three is to estimate proposed working process risk and operational impact. The assessment was carried out by Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) and Strain Index (SI) to assess the level of musculoskeletal risk in this company. Methods-Time Measurement (MTM) was used to determine the labor time for the performing task improvement. Finally, existing process and proposed process was compared in this project
